An impresario arranges performances for artists. An organization that needs music for a party, a fair or a festive opening, contacts the impresario who ensures that the right kind of music is present.
The advantages for the organization are that they do not have to search for a musician, and that when the musician cancels the performance for whatever reason, the impresario can often offer an alternative. For the musician, the advantage is that he can outsource the acquisition.
